Have a Bite of Cheesecake

2 min read

Hello Reader,

You look down today. What’s up?

“I don’t know. It’s just one of those days I guess...am I ever going to get better?” - Reader

Just because you are feeling your emotions a bit more today does not mean that something is wrong with you. It’s okay not to be okay.

“It sure doesn’t feel like it is okay.” – Reader

I hear you. There is a lot of pressure for us to feel and act a certain way. There seem to be little to no room to have those emotional days.

“Yeah, I wish I could just have a good pause sometimes.” – Reader

Although the world doesn’t provide that, maybe you can gift yourself with pausing. Take a break from pretending like everything is okay and just feel for a moment. Find a safe place to do so. If you are comfortable with it, find a safe person to be with and just feel. When you are ready, take your deep breaths and keep going. Have a couple bites of cheesecake if that helps. I hear cheesecake is great when trying to get started again.

“Cheesecake? Why are you so weird?” – Reader

It’s part of the profession. Go be you and I’ll save some cheesecake for you when you are ready, okay?

“Deal.” – Reader

Key takeaways:

1) Just because society doesn’t often support heavy emotions, does not mean that you should starve yourself from being authentic and neglect your emotions. Please, feel them. They are a reminder of how beautiful life is.

2)      When needing to experience your emotions, make sure that you are in a safe place and/or with safe people.

3)      It can be beneficial to have a plan of how to move on after you have felt your emotions. That might simply be a few bites of an excellent cheesecake.

4)      It’s okay not to be okay.

5) Cheesecake is good.
